Please allow me to introduce myself. My name is Kailu McQueen and I am a 45-year-old wife and mother. My husband and I have been married for almost 25 years and were given the privilege of raising 3 awesome children who are all adults now. I have spent the last quarter of a century doing everything for everyone else and was more than happy to do it. However, 4 years ago next month, I began a journey to finally do something for myself by working on a college degree. Last night was a culmination of sweat, tears, personal growth and the birth of a brand new me. This all occurred with tears rolling down my cheeks when I submitted my Capstone Project. My conferral date is set for August 15th and then I await the receipt of my diploma. This new blog marks the beginning of a new journey while I prepare for graduate school and a potential new career. I discovered over the last 4 years that I was smart enough to complete a degree and finally finish something that I started.
The Vision for this blog is to simply take people along my journey with me. I plan to be brutally honest, encouraging, and hopefully give you some insight into who I am and the things that life has taught me. I’m not perfect, and will never try to convince you that I am. I am flawed, have scars you cannot see and am transparent to a fault. When I love my family and friends, it is a love that runs deep. This is part of who I am. I am a believer who takes my relationship with Jesus seriously. I will drive down the round singing along to both Christian and secular music. Did I mention that I love, love, love 80’s music?! Essentially, I am not your average traditional believer, I live my life for Jesus while still being able to relate to the world. Walking in love and not judgment is what I was called to do, although I’m sure I’ve messed that up too! I’ll tell you if I think you’re wrong, but I will also tell you why. I will apologize if I was wrong, but will also tell you why. I mess up more than I succeed, but once I succeed there’s no stopping me. As Brain would say “Tomorrow Pinky, we take over the world!” (Warner Bros.). Have a wonderful Brand New day.
